Son of MLB hall of famer announces commitment to Auburn baseball

Auburn baseball received some recruiting news on Monday that will bring to nostalgia to many longtime fans of the program.

Frank Thomas III, the son of Auburn legend and MLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas, announced his commitment to the Tigers on X (formerly Twitter) Monday evening.

The younger Thomas, who goes by the username “leftylilhurt” on Instagram, is a first baseman/outfielder in the class of 2027.

Currently playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Thomas becomes the 11th commitment in the Tigers’ 2027 class, which ranks eighth nationally, according to Perfect Game.

Auburn baseball is coming off an impressive 2025 season, which saw the program host a super regional for the first time in its history. The team is currently in the midst of fall practice and will have an exhibition game against the Savannah Bananas on Saturday.
