Montembeault, meanwhile, has gotten off to a slow start.
The Becancour, Que., native has allowed 13 goals in four starts, going 2-2 with an .857 save percentage and 3.26 GAA.
Montreal had a 5-2-0 record entering Wednesday’s action as it looks to follow up last season’s breakthrough playoff appearance.
In other Habs news, Patrik Laine has gone for a second opinion on his lower-body injury and is still listed as day-to-day.
Laine has one assist in five games this season.
