‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Star EJAE Signs With WME for Music Career

Hot off the success of “KPop Demon Hunters,” singer and songwriter EJAE has signed with WME for worldwide representation in all areas.
EJAE is a co-writer on the film’s soundtrack, the singing voice of main character Rumi and played a crucial role in the music and development of the movie. Aside from her performance on “Golden,” EJAE also wrote “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” “Your Idol” (for the film’s rival boy group Saja Boys), and the score’s “Hunter’s Mantra,” which is an integral part of the movie’s musical throughline.
Speaking about her work on the film, EJAE recently told Variety, “One of the biggest assets I brought to the movie, or when writing the songs, was being bilingual. I see myself as a songwriter. For me, I never had the goal to be a pop star. I’m more melodically driven [in writing], and I love to look at the works of songwriters that inspire me and attempt to weave that into my work.”
The soundtrack became the first ever in Billboard history to have four songs simultaneously chart on the Billboard Top 10. “Golden” clocked five weeks atop the Hot 100 and became is the longest-running No. 1 hit by an animated act in Billboard Hot 100 history. The other songs were Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” plus Huntr/x’s “How It’s Done.”
EJAE was named to Variety’s 10 Artisans to Watch in songwriting and will be honored next week at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. She recently performed “Golden” live with Huntr/s on “The Tonight Show” and in a skit on “Saturday Night Live.”
“Golden” won the award for Best Original Soundtrack at this year’s K-World Dream Awards and was nominated for Song of the Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2022, EJAE was nominated for the Best Original Song in a Video Game at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for “Rebirth” in “League of Legends.”
She has written, vocal-directed, and contributed background vocals for several world-renowned K-pop groups. Her credits include major hits like Aespa’s “Drama” and “Armageddon,” Red Velvet’s “Psycho,” and songs with artists such as Le Sserafim, Twice, Taeyeon, Nmixx and Fifty Fifty.
Looking ahead, she said she hoped to continue her work in film music: “I would love to one day work on a project like ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ or do the soundtrack for a James Bond film.”
EJAE is represented by Nick Guilmette for Management and A&R.
