1000 Runs In 2025
The Indian vice-captain earlier became the first player in women’s ODIs to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year during India’s Women’s World Cup group match against Australia. The 29-year-old opener also completed 5,000 runs in women’s ODIs, becoming only the fifth and second Indian batter after Mithali Raj to achieve this feat.
She is the youngest and fastest to reach this milestone, accomplishing it in 112 innings and 5,569 balls, surpassing Stafanie Taylor’s 129 innings and Suzie Bates’ 6,182 balls.
Mandhana broke the long-standing record of Australia’s Belinda Clark (970 runs in 1997) for the highest run-getter in a calendar year in women’s ODIs.
Player Of September
Smriti Mandhana has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September 2025, following her exceptional performance with the bat in the lead-up to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Mandhana was in splendid form during the three-match ODI series against Australia before the tournament’s commencement. Scoring two remarkable centuries, she concluded the highly competitive bilateral series as the Player of the Series. Over four ODI matches in September, Mandhana accumulated an impressive 308 runs, with an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68.
Her most notable performance came in the series decider against Australia, where she smashed a 50-ball century – the second-fastest in Women’s ODI history.
Following this milestone month, Mandhana now holds the joint-second highest number of centuries in the format (13), trailing only Australia’s Meg Lanning.
