Chris Coghill appears to have settled speculation surrounding his character’s destiny on Emmerdale, following viewer doubts about whether Kev was genuinely facing death.
Kev burst onto the ITV soap recently, delivering devastating news to his secret spouse Robert Sugden that he was battling a terminal illness.
Whilst keeping details minimal, he left Robert reeling with the revelation that he had merely six months remaining.
Hinting the timeframe might be even shorter, Kev informed Robert he had accepted his situation and wished to spend his remaining time supporting his husband.
Viewers remained sceptical however, with many theorising that Kev could be fabricating the truth, reports the Mirror.
Yet now, actor Chris seems to have verified that his character will indeed face a tragic conclusion.

He was informed by producers whilst preparing for the role that his character would actually perish.
Chris admitted that initially this heartbreaking development made him question whether he desired the part.
He revealed: “When I was offered it and I was told he dies I thought, I like Emmerdale and I’d like to be around for a bit, so I’d want to come and do something that had some potential longevity.
“But when I was told what the character was and I came in and was told they weren’t meeting anybody else I thought, actually this sounds like a right laugh.”
Therefore it appears Kev truly is dying, with Chris informed of this before he commenced portraying him. Actor Chris has given fans a sneak peek of what to expect from the new character, amidst tension with Robert’s partner Aaron Dingle.
In next week’s episodes, Aaron discovers Kev’s true identity, and Robert’s ‘double life’ is revealed.
However, despite the drama with Aaron, Chris, who plays Kev, hinted at some heartwarming moments with Robert’s sister Victoria Sugden. He shared: “There’s quite a nice little thing underlying with Victoria.

“She sees a vulnerability in him and there’s some quite sweet stuff that happens.”
However, the same can’t be said for his relationship with Aaron, as Chris added: “We don’t like each other. There is a lot of tension with Aaron. I like working with Danny [Miller though].”
It appears Kev should brace himself for drama with the Dingle family. Chris told The Mirror: “Aaron’s a Dingle but I wouldn’t like to have a fight with Cain. Charity, Chastity, they get involved to a degree, but a lot of it is concentrated between the three of us.”
Chris disclosed that he, along with co-stars Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley, who portray Aaron and Robert, all get on well. Speaking about him and Ryan, he said: “We share a dressing room upstairs and it’s hilarious, isn’t it?”.
Ryan responded: “We have a good laugh and we all get on, similar senses of humour. We all enjoy each other’s company.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
