“Suspicious individuals” cause MATC’s downtown campus to go into lockdown

UPDATE at 4:05 p.m. on 10/23/2025: Three individuals “behaving suspiciously” cause Milwaukee Area Technical College’s downtown campus to go into lockdown.
MATC’s Public Safety received a report around 1:45 p.m. from an employee who observed three individuals wearing ski masks. They were located on camera and observed them behaving suspiciously.
The campus was then placed on lockdown while Milwaukee Police searched the campus. They were not able to locate the individuals, found no danger, and no one was injured.
The all clear was given at approximately 2:36 p.m.
UPDATE at 2:40 p.m. on 10/23/2025: Milwaukee Police have given the “all clear”, after the downtown campus of Milwaukee Area Technical College was placed on lockdown.
Police were seen with guns drawn and two K-9 units entered the buildings around 2:00 p.m. Students told WTMJ that they initially heard reports of a “suspicious person on the 3rd floor”, but did not know specifically which building this was referring to.

All of the buildings are currently closed, with students and staff being asked to shelter in place.
