Peri met a tragic end in Thursday’s episode when she was crushed by a falling ship chimney after an explosion rocked the village.
In devastating scenes, Peri pushed Tom Cunningham out of the way to save his life – only to be struck herself.
The emotional scenes saw Peri conscious for a short time and she shared some moving final words with Tom and later her mum, as fans were left heartbroken over her heroic exit.
After the episode aired, Ruby took to Instagram to say goodbye to both her character and the show that made her a household name.
She wrote: “That’s a wrap on Peri Lomax. Thirteen years ago I got offered this incredible role with no acting experience and my life completely changed.
“I feel so lucky to have grown up on a show surrounded by such an amazing group of people who literally have become my second family.
“Words can’t sum up what this show means to me and I’ll be forever grateful for everything it has taught and given me.”
Ruby continued: “Over the years I’ve been so lucky to work alongside some of the most talented people — Kirsty, Jess, Kieron and Ellis, thank you for being the best family I could have asked for, I love you guys.
“To the rest of the cast, crew and everyone at Lime — you guys are amazing, keep smashing it.
“To the fans — THANK YOU for always supporting me through the good and the bad, Hollyoaks really does have the best fans!
“I’m really gonna miss this show but I’m so excited to see what the next chapter of life has in store.
“Goodbye Peri Lomax, I’ll always love ya.”
The 23-year-old actress joined the Channel 4 soap back in 2013 and quickly became one of the show’s central figures.
Over the years, Peri’s biggest storylines included her teenage pregnancy with Tom Cunningham, her turbulent relationship with Juliet Nightingale, and her later work as a nurse — a role that earned Ruby praise from fans for its realism and emotional depth.
Tributes poured in from her Hollyoaks co-stars after her post.
Jessica Fox, who plays Nancy Osborne, commented “What an incredible young woman you are — so excited for your next adventures.”
Nadine Mulkerrin, who plays Cleo McQueen, added: “Go shine darling!!! So excited to see what you do next you talented lady.
“Grateful for all the fun times and vibes we’ve shared! Love you naughty nurse.
