Canucks acquire forward Lukas Reichel from Blackhawks

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin confirmed the trade for the 23-year-old former first-round pick who was selected 17th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by Chicago. The fourth-round pick originally belonged to Chicago and was previously acquired by Vancouver on June 26, 2024.
“Lukas is a player we’ve tracked for a long time, and his skill set is undeniable,” said Allvin in a statement. “He’s a young player with high hockey IQ and speed who just needs the right opportunity to find his confidence and develop into a consistent NHL player. We believe our environment here in Vancouver will give him that opportunity to thrive.”
Reichel, 23, has appeared in five games with the Blackhawks this season, registering four points, which was tied for sixth in the team lead for scoring.
The German forward has appeared in 174 games in his career, all with Chicago, recording 58 points. He has also skated in 121 games in the AHL for the Rockford IceHogs, posting 116 points and was named to the 2023 AHL All-Star Game.
