Derrick White scores 25 points in expanded role

Derrick White finished Boston’s 117-116 season-opening loss to the 76ers on Wednesday with 25 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block across 35 minutes. While efficient from the line (7-of-7), he struggled from the field (7-of-20 FG, 4-of-13 3Pt).
Fantasy Impact:
This game marked White’s first opportunity in a significantly expanded offensive role, necessitated by the offseason departures of Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford and Jayson Tatum’s season-ending Achilles injury. White stepped up, tying Jaylen Brown for the team lead in both points and assists. Despite the inefficient shooting, the heavy workload (35 minutes) is a positive sign, and fantasy managers should anticipate this level of involvement from White going forward.
