Toronto Blue Jays to take on Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series

Yesavage fans Ohtani to start World Series

Ohtani was roundly booed when he was introduced pre-game. But after his first at-bat, Rogers Centre erupted with cheers.

Yesavage, the Jays starter, missed badly for a ball with his first pitch — perhaps some nerves. But he quickly came back with a 95 mph fastball for a strike, and after two more pitches, the Jays rookie busted out his signature splitter for a strikeout to begin the World Series.

One of the keys throughout this series will be silencing Ohtani atop the lineup — just as the Blue Jays worked around Yankees slugger Aaron Judge in the ALDS and Mariners star Cal Raleigh in the ALCS.

Yesavage certainly got Toronto off to a good start.
