Federal charges filed against Kansas City man following string of metro bank robberies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A serial robber who targeted multiple metro area banks with handwritten notes is now off the streets after federal agents made an arrest.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation says that Weston R. Womack, of Kansas City, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 23, after multiple metro-area bank robberies.
Investigators said the robberies were reported on Wednesday and Thursday in Kansas City and Gladstone.
Just around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, agents said they were called to the US Bank near W. Gregory and Wornall Rd. They were told a man walked in and handed an employee a note that demanded money.
Then, just after 3:35 p.m., law enforcement officials said they were told a man with the same description entered the UMB Bank at 49th and Main St. He also presented a note that demanded money.
Investigators noted that in each instance, Womack allegedly ran off with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported in either circumstance.
The Bureau has not provided further information about the Gladstone incident. However, on Friday, bank robbery charges were filed against Womack in the Western District Court of Missouri.
