Adam Gilchrist jokes 24,000 followed him after posting Rohit Sharma tribute on Instagram — ‘Only 24 people viewed my dog post’

Rohit Sharma’s performance in the second ODI of India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide came as a relief for the fans. He scored a crucial 73(97) amid talks about his future in the Indian team in the run to the 2027 ODI World Cup.

His fifty also came at a crucial time for the team as they lost Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli early on, within the span of 5 balls. His partnership with Shreyas Iyer guided India to a decent total of 264/9.
Interestingly, before the match, former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist penned a special tribute for Rohit.
The former Aussie wicketkeeper recalled meeting the India opener for the first time at the Adelaide Oval and has now revealed that he had gained a massive following following the post.

Gilchrist, who also captained Rohit during the first three seasons of the IPL at Deccan Chargers, reminisced about their time together before and during the DC camp.
In his post, he also spoke highly of Rohit, who turned out to be one of the greatest batters for India, winning multiple ICC tournaments and scoring three double centuries. Most of all, he was delighted with the friendship he shared with the India star.
As Gilchrist revealed himself when he was commentating on the third ODI between India and Australia, his post with Rohit gathered over a million likes and had over 8,000 comments in just two days.
“24,000 people followed me after my post with him [Rohit] last match. Meanwhile, only 24 people viewed the post about my dog last week,” Gilchrist said.
On the other hand, his post with his dog from October 8 still has only 943 likes in over two weeks.

During their time together in the IPL, the duo also won the IPL 2009 season, which was played in South Africa, and were the top two run-getters for the franchise from 2008 to 2010.
Gilchrist scored 1289 runs in 48 innings at a strike rate of 147.82, with a century and 8 fifties, and Rohit scored 1219 runs at a strike rate of 130.37 with 8 fifties to his name.
