Newcastle landed a big 3-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday and they will be keen to follow up when hosting Fulham in the Premier League this weekend.

However, domestic consistency has proved hard to come by for the Magpies, who have managed just two wins in eight league games this term, and Fulham, also in need of improvement, should play their part in a thriller at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Newcastle vs Fulham preview

Last week’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton means Newcastle have now managed just two wins in eight Premier League games, but the Magpies will see a visit from a Fulham side on a three-game losing streak as a perfect opportunity to get their domestic form back on track.

Eddie Howe’s side will arrive full of confidence following Tuesday’s impressive 3-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s Benfica and with Nick Woltemade, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes enjoying a great run of form, they will expect to put a few past the Cottagers, too.

However, Fulham will not go down without a fight at St James’ Park and should put in a better attacking performance than the one they gave when failing to register a shot on target in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Arsenal.

Six of Newcastle’s last eight games have featured over 2.5 goals while both teams to score has been a winning bet in 11 of Fulham’s last 14 away games, so back the Cottagers to help bring up another high goals tally on Tyneside.

Newcastle to win

Fulham should play their part at St James’ Park but their hosts have won three of their last four matches and can take the points.

Nick Woltemade anytime goalscorer

The German forward has scored four goals in his last five Premier League appearances and should trouble a Cottagers defence which will sorely miss Joachim Andersen.

Sasa Lukic to be shown a card

The Serbian battler may be a touch off the pace after returning from injury this week and a fifth yellow card of the season could arrive on Tyneside.
