Preview: Birmingham City (H)

Bristol City are targeting a third straight victory as they host Birmingham City at Ashton Gate on Saturday, October 25th (3pm).
City came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 after an impressive second-half performance saw them claim maximum points in front of more than 24,000 supporters.
Anis Mehmeti scored his fifth goal of the season while Scott Twine scored twice, taking his tally to five goals for the campaign.
Zak Vyner became City’s reccord Championship appearance holder and is set to make his 220th Championship appearance, while Leo Pecover became City player 1,195 after making his debut as a second-half substitute.
The midweek result was only Gerhard Struber’s second league home win of the season and the first since beating Hull City in August.
Unbeaten in their last two games, the Robins could make it three wins in seven days and claim the maximum nine points against Birmingham City on Saturday.
Our Opponents: Birmingham City
After finishing top of League One last season and securing automatic promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, the Blues’ mixed bag of results so far sees them sit 12th and on 15 points after 11 games.
Birmingham City secured their first win in five games in midweek, beating Preston North End 1-0 away from home.
Chris Davies’ side’s strong start to the season would see them go unbeaten for their first four games of the season, drawing to Ipswich Town and picking up wins against Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United.
Then, three consecutive losses followed, starting with a defeat to Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, before suffering further defeats to Leicester City and Stoke City.
Victory against Swansea City followed before failing to win their next four against Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday, Wrexham and Hull City.
Only four points separate Stuber’s side from Saturday’s visitors and with both side targeting consecutive victories, something will have to give.

ONE TO WATCH: JAY STANSFIELD
Born in Tiverton, Jay Stansfield began his career at Exeter City and spent most of his youth as a Grecian.
In 2019, Stansfield signed for Fulham and debuted in an FA Cup Third Round fixture against Aston Villa before making his league debut against Charlton Athletic.
Stansfield’s career as a Cottager didn’t take off and he would return to Exeter City on a season-long loan in September 2022.
Here, the club re-instated the number nine shirt – a shirt that had been retired in memory of his late father, Adam Stansfield.
Back at his boyhood club, the forward made 39 appearances in all competitions and scored nine goals and won the EFL Young Player of the Month in October 2022.
Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Stansfield joined Birmingham City on loan before signing permanently in August 2024.
So far, the 22-year-old has made 103 appearances for the Blues and has scored 42 goals.
This season, Stansfield has scored six goals, including three in their first three games and most recently scored a brace against Hull City.
Internationally, the forward has played for England Under-18s, Under-20s and Under-21s.
