Brendon Lewis injury update for Memphis football game against USF

Memphis football quarterback Brendon Lewis is listed as questionable on the Tigers’ availability report ahead of the Oct. 25 game against USF.

Lewis went through pregame warmups and is expected to start for the Tigers.

Lewis left Memphis’ Oct. 18 loss at UAB with an apparent leg injury, and coach Ryan Silverfield referred to him as “day-to-day” in multiple media appearances ahead of the game. Lewis was replaced by freshman quarterback A.J. Hill in the UAB game. Silverfield also suggested he could play three or more quarterbacks against the Bulls.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Lewis has thrown for 1,337 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He’s also run for 440 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 American Conference) started the season 6-0 before losing in a stunning upset to the Blazers a week ago. That makes the game against the Bulls essentially a must-win if Memphis wants to maintain a path to the conference title and the College Football Playoff.

USF, meanwhile, can take a definitive step toward a playoff run of its own. The Bulls (6-1, 3-0) would take a major step toward the conference title with a win.

The Tigers and Bulls will kick off at 11 a.m. on ESPN2 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
