Syracuse is now 0-3 since its upset win over Clemson. The Orange lost 30-13 to Pittsburgh last week, making them 3-4 and putting their hopes of making a bowl game at major risk.

Quarterback Rickie Collins had another rough showing, completing 15-of-31 (48%) passes for 126 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Syracuse coach Fran Brown defended Collins again, assuring that he’s the best option for the team.

“I’m telling you, (Collins) is the best answer for the block S,” Brown said during a press conference Monday. “He’s a little ahead of those guys when it comes to his mindset and the different things that he can do because of the arm strength. It’s a lot of intangibles that go with playing quarterback.”

Freshman Luke Carney threw three passes and ran three more times in the loss to Pitt. He’ll be used in certain packages for the Orange offense, but won’t replace Collins as the starter.

“If Luke was ready to go in the game, with the performance that Rickie has had already, then Luke would have been already in the game,” Brown said Thursday during a weekly scheduled appearance on ESPN Radio.

Georgia Tech is 7-0, ranked as the seventh-best team in the country. The last time the Yellow Jackets started 7-0 was 1966. Quarterback Haynes King is also the team’s leading rusher. He has 14 total touchdowns this season, 10 of which have come with his legs.

Georgia Tech is a 16.5-point home favorite against Syracuse (+600) according to FanDuel.
