Opening Kick
•    Navy (6-0, 4-0 in the American) and FAU (3-4, 2-2) will meet for the 1st time as conference foes and the 3rd time overall on Saturday afternoon (3:30 pm) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) in Annapolis. Saturday’s contest is presented by Boeing.
•    Navy is one of just 6 remaining unbeaten teams, joining BYU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
•    Navy has won 9-consecutive games dating back to last year, which is tied with BYU for the 2nd-longest active winning streak in the country. Ohio State has the longest winning streak in the FBS with 11-straight wins.
•    The 9-game winning streak over a 2-year span is tied for the 4th-longest winning streak in school history and puts the Mids 1 win away from tying the school record. The 9-consecutive wins is the longest winning streak at Navy since 1959-60 when the Mids won a school-record tying 10-straight games (the final 3 games of the 1959 season and the first 7 games of the 1960 season). Navy also won 10-straight games in 1917-18 and 1910-11. Navy won 9-consecutive games in 1954-55, 1926, 1920-21 and 1897-98.
•     A win over FAU would give Navy a 7-0 record for just the 5th time in school history and for the 1st time since 1978 (started 7-0, finished 9-3). It would also tie for the 2nd-best start to a season in school history. The other Navy teams to start 7-0 were 1960 (started 7-0, finished 9-2 and Joe Bellino won the Heisman Trophy), 1934 (started 7-0, finshed 8-1) and 1926 (started 9-0, finished 9-0-1 and earned a share of the National Championship). The 6-0 start is already tied for the 5th-best start in school history alongside last year’s squad and the 1979 and 1905 teams.
•    Navy has won 6-consecutive games against American Conference opponents dating back to last year (does not count the win over Army, which is a non-conference game). That is tied for the 3rd-longest conference winning streak in the country with BYU and Georgia Tech. Boise State leads the nation with 15-straight wins, while Buffalo has won 7-straight conference contests.
•     Navy has started the season 6-0 in back-to-back years for the first time since 1978-79. The 1978 team started 7-0 and finished 9-3, which included wins over Air Force and Army and a win over BYU in the inaugural Holiday Bowl. The 1979 team started 6-0 and finished 7-4, which included wins over Air Force and Army.
•    Navy has won 76-consecutive games at home when leading after 3 quarters, the nation’s longest streak. The last time Navy lost at home when leading after 3 quarters was Oct. 23, 1999, when the Mids led Akron 29-13 and lost 35-29.
•    Navy became bowl eligible with a thrilling 32-31 win over Temple on Oct. 11. Navy has played in 25 bowl games all-time, including last year’s 21-20 win over Oklahoma in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. Navy owns a 13-11-1 record in bowl games, winning 6 of the last 7.
•    Saturday is Homecoming for the Mids. Navy is 45-28 (.616) all-time in Homecoming games, including last year’s 51-17 win over Charlotte. Navy has won the last 3 Homecoming games. The last time Navy lost on Homecoming was in 2021, when Cincinnati dealt Navy a 27-20 loss en route to making the College Football Playoffs.
•    Navy leads the all-time series against FAU 2-0. The Mids defeated the Owls 24-17 in Annapolis in 2012 and won at FAU 42-19 in 2017.
•    Saturday will mark the 3rd time in the last 4 games the Mids have played a team whose nickname is the Owls. Navy defeated the Rice Owls 21-13 on Sept. 27 and defeated the Temple Owls 32-31 on Oct. 11.
•    Navy owns a 754-603-57 (.553) record over 145 seasons. The 754 wins are the 23rd most in FBS history, the most of any Service Academy and the most of any team not in the Autonomy 4.
•    Brian Newberry started off his head coaching career at Navy with a 20-10 record, which is the best 30-game start by a Navy head coach since Wayne Hardin went 20-9-1 from 1959-61. Ken Niumatalolo, the winningest head coach in school history, started his first-30 games at Navy with a 19-11 record. Newberry is currently 21-10 as a head coach.
•    Four of Navy’s last 6 wins have come by one possession: a 21-20 win over Oklahoma in the 2024 Armed Forces Bowl, a 21-13 victory over Rice, a 34-31 win over Air Force and a 32-31 win over Temple.
•    Navy has 23 players on its roster from the state of Florida, the most of any state, including key players sophomore offensive tackle Jaylin Acevedeo (Orlando), sophomore nose guard Xavyer Arrington (Vero Beach), junior snipe Isaiah Bryant (Mount Dora), senior snipe Brandon Chatman (Fort  Lauderdale), senior guard Greyson Crawford (Orlando), junior safety Seth English (Gainesville), junior wide receiver Josh Guerin (Fort Lauderdale), junior snipe TK Hodges (Orlando), senior outside linebacker Luke Pirris (Ponte Vedra Beach), senior defensive tackle Kendall Whiteside (Tampa) and junior quarterback Braxton Woodson (Altamonte Springs).
•    Navy started the year playing 4 of its first-5 at home. The Mids will finish the season with 4 of their final-5 games played away from Annapolis.
•    Navy has won 4-consecutive road games dating back to last year, which is the 3rd-longest streak in the country. Oregon leads the way with 10-straight road wins, while Ohio State has won 5 in a row.
•    Navy’s 16 first-time starters this year are the fourth most in the country.
•    The Mids are averaging 305.0 rushing yards per game this season, which leads the FBS. Air Force is 2nd, averaging 283.7 yards per game.
•    The Navy offense is 1st in the country in red zone touchdown percentage with 21 touchdowns in 24 attempts (.840).

•    Navy is 2nd in the country in passing yards per completion, averaging 18.3 yards per catch. Air Force is 1st at 20.3.
•   The Mids have had 10 plays of 50 yards or more, which is tied for the 2nd most in the country with UTSA. Texas State is 1st with 12.
•    Navy has given up just 3.00 tackles for loss per game, which is tied with Miami (Fla.) for the 3rd fewest in the country. Ohio State and Texas A&M are tied for 1st (2.71).
•    The Navy offense is 4th in the country in team passing efficiency (177.96). Indiana is 1st at 193.7.
•    Navy’s 22 rushing touchdowns are tied for the 5th most in the FBS. North Texas, Memphis, Air Force and Texas State all have 23 rushing touchdowns.

•    The Mids are tied for 5th in the FBS in 4th down conversions, converting 9 of 11 (.818).
•    Navy recorded 450 yards or more of total offense in the first 5 games this year. It’s the 1st time Navy has had 450 or more yards in five-consecutive games in school history. That streak ended at Temple when the Mids gained 384 yards.
•    The Air Force win marked the 1st time Navy has had a 100-yard rusher, 100-yard receiver and 300-yard passer (130 rush by Blake Horvath, 243 rec by Eli Heidenreich, 339 pass by Blake Horvath) in a game since 2000 in a loss against Tulane (115 rush by Brian Broadwater, 119 rec by Josh Bock & 119 rec by Dominic Bailey, 302 pass by Brian Broadwater).
•    Blake Horvath (Sr. / QB) has thrown just 7 interceptions in 232-career attempts for an interception percentage of .030 per attempt. That mark is the 3rd-best average in school history. The Navy record is .017 set by current Navy radio analyst Keenan Reynolds, who threw just 8 interceptions in 462-career attempts.
•    Horvath’s 172.3 career pass efficiency rating is the highest of any quarterback in Service Academy history with 150 or more attempts. Dating back to 1956, he is 1 of just 16 quarterbacks in the FBS to have a career passing efficiency of 172.0 or better with 225 or more passing attempts. Horvath is 15th on that list. LSU’s Joe Burrow (172.4) is 14th, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker (172.2) is 16th. Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa is the leader (199.4).
•    Horvath has run for 100 yards and thrown for a 100 yards in 3-straight games. He is the first Navy player to do that since Zach Abey in 2017.  No Navy player has accomplished that feat in 4-consecutive games.

•    Horvath’s average of 8.3 yards of total offense per play (4,486 yards on 542 plays) over his career is the 2nd-best mark in school history. Shun White holds the record at 8.9 (2005-08).

The previous record was 428 yards set by Will Worth in a loss at USF in 2016. Horvath is the 1st quarterback in the FBS to throw for 330 yards or more with 3 or more touchdowns and rush for 130 or more yards with 1 or more touchdowns in a game since LSU’s Jayden Daniels against Florida in 2023.
•    Horvath has rushed for over 100 yards in 4-straight games, making him the first Navy player to do that since Malcolm Perry had 10-consecutive 100-yard rushing games in 2019.
•    Horvath’s 8 rushing touchdowns are tied for the 6th most in the FBS among quarterbacks.
•    Horvath is averaging 106.7 rushing yards per game this year, which ranks 8th nationally and is the most by a quarterback.
•    Horvath’s 189.3 passing efficiency in 2025 would be a school record. The record is 181.6 by Malcolm Perry in 2019. It would be the 3rd best in the FBS if he had enough pass attempts.

•    Heidenreich is 8th in the FBS in yards per reception, averaging 21.1 yards per catch.
•    Heidenreich is ranked as the best running back in the FBS with a grade of 91.7 (PFF has Heidenreich as a fullback, which he is most definitely not) and his receiving grade of 93,1 is the best of any running back or wide receiver.  Alex Tecza (Sr. / RB) is ranked as the 4th-best pass catching running back in the FBS with a grade of 88.1.
