During the latest instalment of Strictly Come Dancing, the pressure was on for the remaining contestants on the BBC show as they tackled Icons Week.

Currently, Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe are at the top of the leaderboard with their scores from week four as they were given an impressive 36 from the judges.

On the other hand, La Voix and Aljaž Škorjanec find themselves at the bottom with a score of 14, after Shirley Ballas gave them a score of two for their Cha Cha Cha.

However, everything was set to change once again as they performed fresh routines for the judges.

George Clarke did a Jive to Harry Styles’ As It Was, Lewis Clarke took on a Quickstep to Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire while Balvinder Sopal hoped to avoid another dance-off with a performance to Beyoncé’s Texas Hold’ Em.

During the show, reality star Vicky Pattison detailed how much her dance meant to her as she broke down in tears during her VT.

For Icons Week, Vicky explained she was going to be dedicating her Couple’s Choice performance to a song by Girls Aloud star Cheryl. In her pre-recorded clip, Vicky detailed her admiration to the Geordie singer.

While speaking to her dad on the sofa, Vicky told them that she had a great childhood but lost her way when she got a bit older. She commented: “I first started out in this industry at about 21. I made some bad decisions.

“I just don’t think, at that age, I had the tools to navigate that space I was in. Now, I do my best ot be a better version of myself. Someone I can look in the mirror and feel alright about.”

While speaking to the camera, Vicky was seen in tears as she told BBC viewers she’s so happy to be part of the show, watching and seeing her family in the audience.

She added: “What I’ve learnt about myself is that with determination and a little bit of self-belief you can achieve stuff.”

Detailing the song Fight for This Love has significant meaning to her, she continued: “The idea that the comeback is stronger than the setback, you can have the life you want, you can change the narrative, you can be who you want to be, not letting the past define you.

“I think that’s really powerful. I’ve worked on myself, and now I’m here in a place that makes me really happy, and I’m finally becoming a woman I’m proud of.”

After their routine, which the judges called her best so far in the competition, Claudia Winkleman had a surprise for her, a video message from Cheryl.

The singer said: “Hi Vicky, it’s Cheryl here. I first of all wanted to say congratulations on your Strictly success thus far, you’ve been doing amazing.

“I’m very honoured and humbled to be your chosen icon for this week. I know you’ve got it in you because you’re a Geordie! So do out there, fight for you place and I’m sending you loads of love, I’ll be rooting for you from home.”

Vicky was left speechless by the message, blown away that Cheryl knew who she was. In the end, her routine earned her a score of 33 from the judges.
