A record 69 matches from the 2026 World Cup will be broadcast live on Fox, the most in American network television history, Fox Sports announced Wednesday.
“FOX Sports’ presentation of FIFA World Cup 26 is going to be the biggest production in our company’s 32-year history, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase this once-in-a-lifetime event with more matches on broadcast television than ever before,” said Eric Shanks, CEO and executive producer of Fox Sports.
Nearly two-thirds of the 104 total World Cup contests will be shown on broadcast television. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, just 34 matches were broadcast on Fox. That is less than half of the planned output for the tournament this summer.
In the 2026 tournament, all remaining 35 matches will be shown on Fox Sports 1 (FS1), which showed 60 World Cup matches in 2022. Every game will also be available on the streaming service Fox One and the Fox Sports app.
Fox Sports’ complete broadcast schedule will be revealed following the FIFA World Cup draw, which will take place on Dec. 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. This will be the third consecutive men’s World Cup broadcast on Fox Sports properties, following the 2022 and 2018 tournaments.
The upcoming edition of the World Cup will be the first to host games in the United States since 1994, when the country hosted the entire tournament. In 2026, there are 16 host cities spread across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The tournament gets underway with its opening match on June 28, with the World Cup final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
