Reading 1-1 Doncaster Rovers

Reading substitute Kamari Doyle scored his first goal for the club to rescue a point for the Royals in a 1-1 draw with Doncaster at the SCL Stadium in League One.

After a goalless first half, veteran Rovers striker Billy Sharp made the breakthrough in the 61st minute.

But midfielder Doyle, on loan from Brighton, levelled seven minutes later to help extend Reading’s unbeaten home record to eight matches in all competitions.

Neither side impressed in the scrappy opening exchanges, but Reading showed more creativity going forward.

Doncaster goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala made good saves to deny Charlie Savage and Lewis Wing from distance, while Ben Elliott drove narrowly wide.

Rovers threatened only sporadically but, as the game approached half-time, Luke Molyneux found space in the home area – only for keeper Jack Stevens to smother his attempt.

Sharp, 39, pounced just past the hour mark when, after a goalmouth scramble, he volleyed in from close range.

But Reading were soon level when Doyle – only on the pitch eight minutes – drove home firmly at Lo-Tutala’s near post.
