Coolera/Strandhill beaten in Connacht LGFA semi-final

Coolera/Strandhill’s bid to put two LGFA provincial titles back-to-back ended in Tarmonbarry on Sunday with a 1-9 to 0-6 intermediate semi-final loss to Roscommon champions St Barry’s.
In dreadful weather conditions, both teams served up a highly competitive hour of club championship football.
St Barry’s led by 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time with full forward Cara Cox scoring the goal.
This proved to be a critical score as the home side’s ferocious defensive workrate and ability to force turnovers disrupted the Coolera/Strandhill gameplan.
The Sligo champions managed just one score in the second half – despite a gallant effort with Anna McDaniel covering every blade of grass on the pitch, in a bid to haul her team back into the match.
