BBC Strictly Come Dancing has bid farewell to the fourth celebrity in a surprising dance-off, leaving fans stunned as the two couples with the lowest points were revealed after.

Saturday night saw the remaining stars honouring music industry legends for Icons week, which left Vicky Pattison speechless after receiving a special message.

Regrettably, during the BBC results show, sports star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – who had achieved his highest score of 30 from the judges – and West End performer Amber Davies – who was in joint second place on the leaderboard after performing – found themselves at risk of elimination.

Upon hearing the announcement, fans quickly took to X to express their disappointment, reports Wales Online.

One person said: “Woah, that’s just ridiculous.” While another added: “Well that bottom 2 is diabolical.”

Someone else reeled: “Jimmy v Amber is a joke.” In agreement, one person wrote: “Bl**dy ridiculous, how on earth is Amber in the dance off.”

One fan commented: “Actually feel for Jimmy he’s obviously going to go, wrong people in the bottom completely.” As another said: “Amber vs Jimmy dance off I am in SHOCK.”

Both couples returned to the ballroom, with Amber and Nikita Kuzmin performing their Cha Cha Cha to Ariana Grande’s Break Free, while Jimmy and Lauren Oakley danced their American Smooth to Prince’s Purple Rain.

When it came to deciding who to save, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas all opted to save Amber and Nikita.

Anton Du Beke, who held the casting vote this weekend, also confirmed that he would’ve chosen to save Amber and Nikita.

This means that the pair will continue in the competition and participate in Strictly’s annual Halloween special next week.

Speaking to presenter Tess Daly about his journey on the programme, Jimmy was full of praise as he said: “I have absolutely loved my experience. I can only say thank you very much for letting me have this experience, and to my daughters for pushing me to come here and do this.

The sports star became the fourth person to leave the BBC show

“I never expected that I would enjoy it this much. The people behind the scenes, from the wardrobe people to the hairdressers to the make-up people, are absolutely magnificent – thank you very much.

“This experience is going to live with me forever. Most importantly, [to Lauren], this girl is just absolutely incredible. She has been absolutely amazing with me. [To Lauren] You are a diamond.”

On Saturday evening, Jimmy received his top score in the contest after earning 30 points, placing him joint fifth on the scoreboard alongside Gladiator star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

Jimmy continued: “The only thing you can do is dance as best as you can and then it’s up to the public. I was actually quite happy to dance again because I wanted to do better than my previous one.

“So listen, I have had a blast. From the people up there [pointing to the other couples], to the judges – thank you very much for your comments.”

His professional partner, Lauren, expressed her affection for the time spent coaching Jimmy on the BBC programme, emphasising her pride in his progress. She continued: “Oh I enjoyed it so much and I am absolutely gutted that it’s come to an end.

“We’ve had so many laughs. We have had the best time and I am so proud of how far he has come. And it proves that anyone can be a dancer if you put your mind to it.

“He’s a footballer! And he just danced like that. We’ve had the best time and I’m just so proud and I feel honoured to have been able to teach you. You’ve been an amazing student.”

The remaining contestants are set to hit the dance floor next weekend for a spooktacular Halloween special.

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
