Famous singer uses slur to describe those who wear face masks

During an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters this week, Kid Rock appeared to take a major jab at those who wear face masks.
While speaking with Watters, the two discussed Halloween costumes. Watters mentioned that he and his family would be dressing up as the cast of Scooby-Doo, with him portraying Shaggy. In response, Kid Rock took out a face mask, put it on, and then removed it, asking Watters, “Guess what I’m going to be?”
Watters replied, “Fauci?” referring to Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The “All Summer Long” singer then placed the mask back on his face, quickly took it off again, and answered, “A R-word.”
The singer appeared to be insulting those who wear face masks to protect against the spread of respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, the flu, and RSV.
Kid Rock has previously expressed his strong views on face masks. In his 2022 song “We The People,” he included the lyric: “Wear your mask, take your pills / Now a whole generation’s mentally ill.”
Additionally, leading up to his “Bad Reputation” tour that same year, he announced that he would not perform in cities with mask or vaccine mandates. This resulted in the cancellation of several shows.
Kid Rock wasn’t always anti-mask, though. In April 2020, he posted a photo of himself wearing a mask he made with the caption, “Stay home. Stay safe. And if you must go out, wear a mask.”
However, in June of that year, his Nashville bar, Kid Rock’s Big A– Honky Tonk and Rock n’ Roll Steakhouse, was cited for violating coronavirus orders after photos showed unmasked patrons packed inside.
