Ange Postecoglou ally lists his options after Nottingham Forest disaster as Celtic murmur goes public
The Australian lasted just eight winless games at Forest before being shown the door

Mark Bosnich has urged Ange Postecoglou to take a “sabbatical” from the game as he laid out a plan for a return to management.
The 60-year-old was brutally axed by Nottingham Forest after just eight games in the hot-seat with the club in the midst of a relegation scrap.
Postecoglou was quickly replaced by Sean Dyche – but the Englishman as suffered defeat against Bournemouth in his first Premier League game which has left the club in the relegation zone.
And the Aussie have proven himself in Europe since moving to Celtic back in 2021, leaving the club for Tottenham after two successful campaigns following a Treble success.
After a fifth place finish in his debut Premier League campaign, he lifted the Europa League last term to end Spurs’ silverware drought before being shown the door.
But Bosnich reckons that a break from the game would be valuable. Asked where it leaves his reputation in England, he told Stan Sport: “In the main part, in a little bit of tatters, but it’s not irretrievable.
“It doesn’t help, but this is why it’s time for him to take a sabbatical in my opinion. Maybe just take a little bit of time off, he could do some media – not in England – but just for a while.
“Maybe come back to Australia for a little bit. Long term, I think he can return to the Premier League, but that won’t be in the short term.
“To facilitate that return he has to go somewhere in Europe and do very, very well, which I believe he is more than capable of doing. But the general consensus there (in England) is not in a good place, which I can understand.
“We are biased (in Australia), Ange is Australian and we want him to do so well not only for his sake but for the future of Australian managers that happen to go over there.”
Bosnich reckons that a crack at international football could tempt Postecoglou having previously managed the Australian national team – or alternatively a club job away from the glare of England.
Pressed on if he was to return where he saw the boss, he said: “I definitely think a move to Europe would be the best for him, club football wise, but I wouldn’t rule out an international team.
“Possibly Greece, they are out of the group for World Cup qualification and in less than a year will be starting the road to Euro 2028.
“So, I think that is something he would consider. There are a lot of good Greek footballers at this moment in time, they are underperforming as a team in their qualifying group, definitely.
“The club side, I hope he stays in Europe – maybe goes to Spain, maybe goes to Italy, Germany, possibly even France. I don’t think a Premier League club or a Championship club would be a good idea for him at this time. Have a bit of a sabbatical, just wait.”
Speaking to SEN, former Aston Villa and Manchester United goalkeeper Bosnich also revealed he had text his pal Postecoglou: “I reached to him just to let him know that I’m thinking about him, and just to say to come back to Australia for a bit, do some media work and rejuvenate yourself. Sometimes during troubled times it’s good to travel over the oceans, put it that way.”

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers is out of contract in the summer and with the Scottish champions trailing Hearts by eight points speculation has ramped up over his future.
Postecoglou has been touted with a return to Glasgow’s east end – with bookmakers now making him the favourite for the hot seat should Rodgers leave the club.
Gambling.com, who specialise in comparing and ranking online gambling sites, make him the early favourite at 6/4.
That is ahead of former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic (3/1) and Bodo/Glmit gaffer Kjetil Knutsen (7/2).
