What is the longest baseball game ever? Dodgers-Blue Jays proving beauty of extra innings

Baseball doesn’t have a clock.
More than anything else, that makes the sport unique.
They can really play forever.
And sometimes, it seems like they just might.
World Series Game 3, by about 1:30 p.m. ET and 10:30 p.m. PT, was at that point where it seemed like the baseball would never end.
They’d played so long that they had a 14th-inning stretch.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays didn’t want to go home.

What is the longest baseball game ever?
The longest baseball game ever is a very different question than the longest World Series game ever, which was an 18-inning affair in 2018.
But the longest game ever in MLB-affiliated baseball? Including the minor leagues?
It went 33 innings.
The 33-inning affair was begun on April 18, 1981. It featured the Rochester Red Wings and Pawtucket Red Sox in a Triple-A matchup.
The Red Sox beat the Red Wings, 3-2, in 33 innings.

The game lasted eight hours and 25 minutes of playing time.
They played 32 innings, past 4:00 a.m. local time, before it was called.
And then when they resumed on June 23, Pawtucket needed just one additional inning to end it.
The Dodgers and Blue Jays have a long way to go.
