North Inner City Children Help Irish Rail Decorate Previously Grey Archway

A community in north inner city Dublin is home to a new gallery of paintings.
A series of artwork inspired by nature has been unveiled at Courtney Place today.
One of the 17 children who took part in this project, explaining how nice it is to wake up and see their paintings outside.
Members of the local community here, especially the children, have spent months coming up with ideas, and helping an artist paint them onto once grey railway arches.
Joanne Bissett, Arts & Social Officer, Iarnród Éireann says they wanted to bring colour to the area:
“So the Courtney Place art project is part of our station arts initiative, where Iarnród Éireann is working with communities to look at how we can utilise our station spaces.”
The paintings show a variety of flowers, plants, animals, insects and even superheroes and cartoon characters, all inspired from trips to the Botanical Gardens and Mud Island Community Garden.
A Garden
Artist Artur Oner helped bring the ideas to life:
“This project was about creating a visual interpretation of a garden, this is the thing we agreed with the local community to paint.”
The gallery also includes a fully black arch, which will work as a blackboard for the children to continue to create their own artwork.
