A deleted scene from Celebrity Traitors could have changed the entire course of the show, according to the latest celebrity victim, Joe Wilkinson.

The comedian, who was sent packing by chat show host Jonathan Ross, comedian Alan Carr and musician Cat Burns, has now revealed details about the unaired scene.

Joe, 50, found himself ousted after he nearly discovered the identities of the Traitors on the show. He was ‘murdered’ in the night after the Faithful turned against Stephen Fry, who was also expelled – ensuring the Traitors remained undiscovered.

Throughout his stint on the show, Joe proposed several theories about the culprits behind the murders, but none resonated with the group. Now, he’s confessed that he correctly identified Cat as a Traitor before his departure.

“The only reason I chose Cat in the end was because someone said, ‘Look at the person you think of least,'” he explained.

He continued: “You don’t really see it in the show, but I was hanging out with Cat quite a lot… Suddenly, I went, ‘Cat! Why do I trust Cat?’ It’s mainly because I’ve just been hanging out with her.”

In an interview with Metro, he admitted that if he had remained on the show, he wouldn’t have chosen Cat at the roundtable, adding: “I really liked her – she was just so cool and lovely to hang out with. So no, I wouldn’t have gone for her next”, reports the Mirror.

Joe was eliminated alongside Stephen Fry and Line of Duty’s Mark Bonnar. Mark was left furious upon discovering that Alan, Jonathan and Cat weren’t Faithful but were actually Traitors.

During an appearance on the programme’s spin-off, Uncloaked, he revealed his astonishment at learning the true identities of The Traitors.

His departure came after the Faithful cast equal votes against him and David Olusoga. With the votes tied, the Chest of Chance made the final decision, delivering the crushing blow.

On the show, he was given a letter revealing the names of the Traitors. “Jonathan f***ing Ross!” he exclaimed, adding: “Well played, he is really good at it.”

He continued: “Man, Cat, she is good. I thought she was 100 percent Faithful. This is exhausting.”

Upon learning that Alan was, in fact, a Traitor, he said: “Oh, it’s Alan, well played though,” before throwing his head back in disbelief. Mark continued: “You know what, on our way out from the table, I was beside him and I glance at him and he was like [head down] and I never mentioned that again.”

Looking back on his own elimination, he said: “I’m really glad David’s a Faithful and I really hope he doesn’t go. I think he’s a real asset to them and I hope suspicions about him disappear very quickly. That I can’t see happening though.

“Having that roundtable decided by the Chest of Chance was very dramatic and it was very emotional. I got so caught up in it all, but I hope it was a good TV moment. Even though I was sad to go, I thought, well, they’ve never done that before!”

The Celebrity Traitors continues Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
