“Dude looks like somebody’s auntie”; “Fine and swaggy” – Fans react to Kike Hernandez’s pre-Game 4 fit vs. Blue Jays

The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the World Series after a marathon 18-inning clash against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday at Dodger Stadium.

Last season’s World Series MVP, Freddie Freeman, was the hero for the Dodgers as he smashed a walk-off home run to clinch a 6-5 win. Apart from Freeman, Dodgers two-way phenom, Shohei Ohtani was also one of the stars for the NL West team on Monday.

Ohtani reached base for a record nine times after going 4-for-4 at the plate and drawing five walks. His teammate Kike Hernandez paid tribute to the Japanese star by wearing a stylish knitted jersey with Ohtani’s No. 17 on it.

Fans reacted to Hernandez’s pre-game outfit for Tuesday’s clash.

Hernandez went 2-for-5 during Monday’s 18-inning contest, the joint longest in World Series history, driving in a run for the team. The veteran outfielder is chasing a third World Series ring with the team after returning on a one-year deal in the offseason.

Chaitanya Prakash is an editor who covers US Sports at Sportskeeda. His first brush with sportswriting was in 2012 when the greatest football manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson, bid farewell to the beautiful game.

Although having started out professionally as a cricket writer in 2022, Chaitanya’s curiosity and indiscriminate interest in all sports in general eventually introduced him to America’s favorite pastime.

While Chaitanya’s favorite player from the current crop is the dynamic Venezuelan Ronald Acuna Jr., his all-time favorite, however, is Pedro Martinez, for his self-belief and consistency. He also rates Jose Bautista’s iconic bat flip in 2015 as his favorite moment in baseball history.

Chaitanya specializes in reporting on technical aspects of the game or analyzing patterns behind specific plays. He also likes pondering over players’ self-assessments following the conclusion of a game as it helps him get an idea of how they think about the sport in general.

When not cheering for his favorites across sports, Chaitanya likes being transported to the past through a good war documentary or a historical documentary in general.
