YES Network parts ways with this announcer after two decades on Yankees broadcasts

Former Yankees catcher John Flaherty, a YES Network analyst, has announced his departure from the Network after 20 years of service.
Flaherty revealed through social media on Wednesday that his contract would not be renewed for the upcoming season.
“So I was informed yesterday that I will not be offered a contract from YES for next season!” Flaherty wrote, via X/Twitter. “I am very grateful for my 20 years at the Network.”
In his message, Flaherty also expressed appreciation for the Yankees organization and its fans.
“I want to thank the Yankees and especially the Yankee fans,” Flaherty continued. “Thank you for letting me be a little part of your day for 20 seasons!”
If his work in the booth is any indication, Flaherty knows the game as well as anyone currently in his position. In 14 pro seasons, he batted .252/.290/.377 with 80 home runs.
Flaherty, 58, is a New York native who finished out a long career with three seasons (2003-2005) in pinstripes. His most famous moment on the field may have occurred with a big hit against the Red Sox in July of 2004, which became more known for the night Derek Jeter flew into the stands.
“Yankee fans, you really are the best!“ Flaherty wrote in a second post. ”I am excited for the next chapter!”
