Parker McCollum Says That Koe Wetzel Has Changed A Lot Since Becoming A Father: “It Changes Things, I Don’t Care Who You Are”

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The wild children of country music seem to be growing up, settling down, and starting families. Koe Wetzel is one of those infamous party characters in the Texas country music space, and he shocked fans when he announced that he was expecting a baby girl at the start of the year.

Koe Wetzel and his longtime girlfriend, Bailey Fisher, welcomed their first child into the world, and he’s clearly head-over-heels in love with being a girl dad.

The Texas rocker has settled into this role as a father quite well, embracing the part of fatherhood where you figure out a way to talk about your kids at every moment. His moments include being in front of massive crowds of screaming fans.

Shortly after Woods’ arrival into the world, Koe was on stage, about to play “Good Times,” and used an extended introduction to discuss the song’s meaning of slowing down and changing old habits, weaving in the fact that he’s a dad now.

“I’m older and wiser, I’m not drinking as much. I had a baby girl last week! She’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever put my eyes on, and she’s an absolute blessing. I get just about as much sleep now as I was when I was getting f****** up all the time, so it balances itself out a little bit.”

However, gushing about his daughter on stage was just phase one of the transformation into dad mode.

Now, Wetzel has found a way to edit some of his lyrics to reflect that he’s not a father. Recently, fans have noticed that he’s changing the lyrics of “Damn Near Normal” to reflect the changes in his life since releasing it.

Koe also seems to be focusing a lot on his physical health since becoming a dad, and fans have noticed that he looks very healthy, happy, and thriving overall.

But just because Koe is now a father, does that mean his wild ways have entirely died? During an interview Parker McCollum did with Apple Music’s Kelleigh Bannen, Bailey Zimmerman left McCollum a pre-recorded question inquiring how his longtime friend and fellow former wild child has changed since bringing a new life into the world.

“Hello, Parker McCollum. It’s Bailey, your buddy Bailey. Check it. So we both know our buddy Koe Wetzel just had a baby, and judging from the times we’ve had with Koe, how different do you think Koe is now?

‘Cause the last time I saw Koe, he was like dad as frick and not the Koe Wetzel that I hung out with before. So how do you feel about the new Daddy Koe?”

As Zimmerman is reading off his question, McCollum has his hand over his head, like this is going to be a loaded question to answer. To start his response, he admits he’s sure Koe Wetzel would rather this not be made public, but McCollum believes that, since becoming a father, Koe has changed in many positive ways.

“Great question, Bailey. Koe would probably rather us not talk about this… But me and Koe were just talking about this yesterday morning. Koe’s doing really, really good right now. He’s in a very good place. I think he’s incredibly happy to be a dad; he’s got a little girl now. And it just changes things, I don’t care who you are, even Koe Wetzel. It changes some stuff. It changes the way you think, and your decision-making, and a lot of stuff.

BUT… That being said. Koe Wetzel never dies.”

Host Kelleigh Bannen laughs after McCollum gives his answer, which I think was very well said.

As a father himself, McCollum knows that life changes when you become a father. And while I’m not a parent myself, I am sure many parents agree that, as much as a child changes things, it doesn’t mean you fully evolve into someone new; there are still remnants of the wild child inside you that come out from time to time.

I think McCollum is the perfect person to speak on this topic as well, given that he and Koe have quite the laundry list of wild stories together.

The two got down and dirty during their famed Naughty or Nice Christmas tours. The wildest story (that we know of) comes from their first run of it, circa 2017, and a night ended with them kicking down drywall at the place they were staying in, after Koe punched out a mirror in the strip club and crawled through the street, obviously very intoxicated. You can read the whole thing HERE, and I’d highly recommend it because it’s really a crazy tale.

McCollum and Wetzel have grown up in the public eye and have matured a lot since their young days running around Texas together.

Koe Wetzel and Parker McCollum’s party ways might look a little different these days, but they have not lost their wild sides fully since stepping into fatherhood.
