Lower tiers of rugby’s All-Ireland League to be regionalised

The IRFU has confirmed that the bottom two divisions of the Energia All-Ireland League will be regionalised.
Divisions 2B and 2C will be split into north and south sections next season, with Division One A and B unchanged.
The IRFU’s Director of Rugby Development, Colin McEntee, says it will help to reduce travel costs for teams and will ensure the “long-term sustainability” of the AIL.
Sligo are currently third in Division 2B of the AIL – and so would be one of the club’s affected next season if they don’t secure promotion to Division 2A.
Grant Ross’s side are away to Division 2B leaders Galwegians this Saturday afternoon (2.30pm).
