Avs sign F Necas to eight-year, $92 million contract extension

The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Martin Necas to an eight-year, $92 million contract extension.
The deal carries an AAV of $11.5 million.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that the deal includes $60.4 million in signing bonuses.

Necas, 26, has seven goals and 13 points in 11 games this season.
Drafted 12th overall by Carolina in 2017, Necas was traded to Colorado on Jan. 24 along with Jack Drury and two draft picks in the deal that sent forward Mikko Rantanen to the Hurricanes.
He is in the second season of a two-year, $13 million contract and was set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
Internationally, Necas helped Czechia win gold at the 2024 IIHF World Championships. He also was a part of the Czechia roster that won the then-named Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in 2016.
In the AHL, he helped Carolina’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, to a Calder Cup title in 2019. He also won a Czech Extraliga championship in 2016 with Kometa Brno.
The Nove Mesto na Morave, Czechia native has 131 goals and 339 points in 452 career NHL games, split between the Hurricanes and Avalanche.
