“Ben Shelton vs Andrey Rublev not on center court is crazy” – Fans baffled by Paris Masters Day 4 schedule ft. Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev

Day four of main draw action at the 2025 Paris Masters on Thursday, October 30, is set to feature some eagerly-awaited matchups, including a clash between Ben Shelton and Andrey Rublev and encounters involving Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. However, several fans weren’t impressed with the fact that the match featuring the American and the Russian ATP stars hasn’t been scheduled on Center Court at Paris La Defense Arena.

On Wednesday, October 29, the order of play for day four’s action was made public. The first singles match of the day is slated to pit Cameron Norrie, who ousted World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, against Valentin Vacherot in the third round on Center Court. On the same court, the next two day matches are set to feature clashes between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniel Altmaier, and Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik.

Meanwhile, Ben Shelton and Andrey Rublev are set to get singles action underway on Court 1, followed by a clash between former Paris Masters champion Karen Khachanov and Alex de Minaur. Daniil Medvedev will take on Lorenzo Sonego in the only night session match scheduled on Court 1, while on Center Court, Jannik Sinner will play Francisco Cerundolo in the first night session contest, followed by Alexander Zverev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Many tennis fans on X (formerly Twitter) found it hard to believe that a high-profile matchup like Ben Shelton vs Andrey Rublev has been placed on Court 1 instead of the Center Court.

“This OOP (order of play) is all a bit surprising to me tbh,” prominent tennis journalist Jose Morgado opined.
“Ben vs. Andrey not on center court is crazy,” one fan wrote.

“Haha wtf ALL court 1 singles matches are better than day session on centre court… crazy,” commented another.
“Vacherot vs Norrie on court central and no shelton vs rublev!?!?!?!?,” another fan chimed in.
“How tf are Ben and Rublev not on the central court?” asked one.
“Better day schedule on Court 1!,” another added.

Provided both Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev muster deep runs at the 2025 Paris Masters, they will face each other in the semifinals, in a repeat of their recent encounter in the final of the Vienna Open.

Zverev, the defending Paris Masters champion, put himself in pole position for clinching the title in Vienna by winning the first set. However, Sinner came roaring back into the contest and ultimately won the match in three sets to register the second Vienna Open title triumph of his career.

With No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz out of the picture in Paris, second-ranked Sinner also has the chance to dethrone the Spaniard at the summit of the ATP Tour’s singles rankings. However, for that to happen, the Italian must at least reach the Paris Masters final, a feat that has so far eluded him over the years.
