Game Preview: Islanders vs Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes (6-3-0) hope to turn their recent fortunes around as they take on the New York Islanders (4-4-1) Thursday night at the Lenovo Center. Game time is at 7:30 P.M. (corrected)
The Canes have been snake bitten with injuries and it doesn’t seem like anyone of the injured will be returning to action anytime soon.
Jaccob Slavin, K’Andre Miller, and Shayne Gostisbehere are all on the shelf on the blueline. “Ghost” was going to be evaluated on Wednesday but there is no word from the team regarding his status.
Charles Alexis Legault was recalled from Chicago and will join six defensemen presently healthy enough to play. (Walker, Nikishin, Chatfield, Fensore, Nystrom, and Reilly)
Walt Ruff posted the lines but there are no major changes. Carrier was placed on injured reserve and of course Robinson remains out.
According to the rotating schedule, Bussi should be back in net, but Brind’Amour indicated that Andersen may play. Kochetkov is close to returning but is not expected to play in this one.
Cory Lavalette confirmed that David Rittich will start in net for New York.
The Daily Faceoff has the Islanders lines as follows:
Drouin – Horvat – Heineman
Duclair – Barzal – Palmieri
Maclean – Cizikis – Tsyplakov
Both teams have lost two in a row so something has to give.
