Cracks emerge in Republican loyalty to Trump as the Epstein bomb is about to drop | PennLive letters

U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) has revealed that private discussions with House Republicans suggest diminishing support for President Donald Trump, driven by heightened scrutiny of Department of Justice (DOJ) documents linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Bipartisan criticism of the administration’s handling of these records has raised concerns about whether “loyalty” to the president is influencing the lack of transparency and hiding of documents.
A discharge petition to force a vote on releasing the documents has gained momentum, with U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) confirming it has secured the 218 signatures needed to bypass leadership and bring the measure to the House floor once the ongoing government shutdown recess ends.
The “Epstein bomb is about to drop and no (one) wants to defend a pedo-protector,” claims Swalwell.
Under the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson, Republicans in Congress have failed to resolve important issues and answer to the American people.
They also have created the widespread expectation among the other branches, among the voters and even among the members themselves that Congress cannot and will not do its job. These low expectations are now so hard-wired into everyone’s political calculus that they have created a self-fulfilling downward spiral to “nothingness.”
Simply do as Trump demands! The Republican party has learned that there is no political penalty for not doing their job. The people just keep voting against their own interests.
