Selling Sunset: The Reason JoJo Siwa Decided To Sell Her LA Mansion

In the Dance Moms x Selling Sunset crossover no one saw coming, JoJo Siwa appeared in season nine of the hit Netflix series to sell her $4.1 million (£3.1m) LA mansion with the help of Chrishell Stause.

Given that JoJo became famous at the age of nine as a contestant on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, and later joined the popular reality show Dance Moms with her mother Jessalynn Siwa, it’s unsurprising that she’s worth a small fortune.

Rumour has it JoJo has a net worth $20 million (£15.2m), a sum no doubt bolstered by the sale of her sprawling LA property. During an episode of Selling Sunset, we find that the reality star successfully managed to sell her 6,462ft six-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence, which was full of keepsakes from the early days of JoJo’s career. Anyone who has seen the episode will know that includes a bejewelled piano and a fish tank table.

After raising her profile on Dance Moms, where JoJo became known for her colourful hair accessories, she launched her own merchandising empire worth more than $80 million (£60m). ‘I started selling them when I was 13, so they’ve been in stores now for seven years,’ she said in 2023. ‘And the success of it, really, it’s kind of crazy.’

JoJo also makes an income from her YouTube channel where she has more than 12 million subscribers. It’s also been reported that she earned an impressive £400,000 for her stint on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, where she met her current partner Chris Hughes.

Why did JoJo Siwa sell her LA mansion?

While the motivation for JoJo to sell her property in LA is unclear, it turns out it does not have anything to do with her relationship with Love Island star Chris Hughes.

JoJo actually listed her property last December for $3.95 million (£3m), after initially buying it for $3.43 million (£2.61m) in 2019 when she as 16 years old. She met Chris the following April and even though they have spoken about a long-term future together, he is not the reason she sold her house.

Even so, the fact JoJo is now dating someone from the UK is likely to mean she spends less time in LA. She also embarked on her Infinity Heart tour in September, which saw her travel to various European cities, so it looks like JoJo is staying on this side of the Atlantic for the time being.
