FBI foiled a ‘potential terrorist attack’ in Michigan planned for Halloween weekend, Director Kash Patel says

The FBI arrested multiple suspects who were allegedly plotting a foiled “potential terrorist attack” in Michigan over the Halloween weekend, Director Kash Patel said Friday.
“This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend,” Patel wrote in a statement on X.
Patel offered no further information on the plot or the suspects. The case involves federal charges and arrests, but the court documents are sealed as of Friday morning.
Police in Dearborn, Michigan, a city outside Detroit, said the FBI carried out an operation there Friday morning — although the bureau has not confirmed this was linked to the arrests.
“The Dearborn Police Department has been made aware that the FBI conducted operations in the City of Dearborn earlier this morning,” the force said on its Facebook page, before adding that there was no threat to the public.
Jordan Hall, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Detroit Field Office, confirmed that the FBI operations took place in Dearborn and Inkster.
NBC News has reached out to the FBI for further comment.
