Iowa State football will play one of its most anticipated games of its 2025 season on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it hosts Arizona State at Jack Trice Stadium in a rematch of last year’s Big 12 championship game.
Like many teams across the country two months into the season, the Cyclones won’t exactly be at full strength.
While riding a three-game losing streak, Iowa State (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) will be without eight players when it takes on the Sun Devils (5-3, 3-2) in a Week 10 meeting, according to the Big 12 player availability report released on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Beyond that, one other Cyclones player is listed as doubtful and six others are listed as questionable.
They won’t be the only team in the game nursing some wounds.
Arizona State has 10 players listed as out, a group that most notably includes quarterback Sam Leavitt, who was injured in his team’s 24-16 loss to No. 22 Houston on Oct. 25. Leavitt was ruled out earlier in the week by Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham and will be replaced by Jeff Sims, Arizona State’s well-traveled backup.
One Sun Devils played is listed as out for the first half, two others are doubtful and two are questionable. The list of doubtful participants includes star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, the team’s leading pass-catcher and a projected first-round NFL Draft pick.
