If anything, trick-or-treating weather will be just what you imagine it should be: cool, a little breezy — making the fallen leaves rustle — with a slight possibility of misting, giving the evening an even more eerie air.

“Stray sprinkles are in the realm of possibility,” National Weather Service meteorologist Bryan Tilley said, adding the forecast isn’t scary at all. In fact, it is just what you think it should be for Halloween. The rain, if there is any, “won’t even make the ground wet.”

Expect afternoon highs in the mid-50s, nighttime lows in the 30s.

Winds could gust up to 25 mph.

Sunset will be about 6:30, with twilight lasting about a half-hour until it gets dark.

Still, public safety groups point out that the holiday is on a Friday, so there’s added danger for pedestrians and those going to parties, and urged extra caution: Trick-or-treaters and folks headed to and from house parties and bars don’t mix.

Half of all crash fatalities on Halloween night are connected to alcohol, AAA said.

“A Friday celebration encourages more social gatherings and relaxed attitudes toward drugs and alcohol,” said Adrienne Woodland, a spokeswomen for the auto club. “This creates a dangerous environment on the roads, especially with neighborhoods full of families walking after dark.”

Kid safety groups urge against dark-colored costumes and distracted walking.

“It’s not enough to just dress your child in a costume and head out the door,” Woodland added. “We urge parents to talk to their kids about traffic safety before going trick-or-treating.”

As for the weekend, the forecast calls for a partially sunny Saturday, which should clear up by Sunday.
