Akron native, former Buchtel standout Chris Livingston agrees to 2-way contract with Cavs

Akron native Chris Livingston has agreed to a two-way contract with his hometown Cavaliers, a person familiar with the deal confirmed for the Beacon Journal on Oct. 31.
The Cavs have yet to announce the move, which is standard practice until a contract is signed. ESPN first reported a deal had been struck.
The Milwaukee Bucks waived Livingston on Oct. 16, making him a free agent.
A 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward, Livingston spent parts of the past two seasons with the Bucks, who picked him in the second round (No. 58 overall) of the 2023 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He also played for the NBA G League’s Wisconsin Herd.
On a two-way contract with the Cavaliers, the 22-year-old Livingston is expected to play primarily with the NBA G League’s Cleveland Charge, but he could also earn chances with the Cavs.
In high school, Livingston played for Buchtel in Akron as a freshman, Western Reserve Academy in Hudson as a sophomore, Buchtel as a junior and Oak Hill Academy in Virginia as a senior before joining Kentucky for his college career.
Livingston started 26 of 34 games in his lone season with Kentucky and averaged 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds.
Livingston has appeared in 42 NBA regular-season games, 21 in each of the past two seasons and all with the Bucks. He has averaged 1.3 points on 40.8% shooting from the field and 1.3 rebounds.
In the NBA G League, Livingston has appeared in 39 games, averaging 15.7 points on 48.3% shooting from the field, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Livingston will join forward/center and Revere High School graduate Larry Nance Jr. as players who grew up in Summit County and are with the Cavs organization.
