NBA (0.5 Unit) Boston Celtics @ Philadelphia 76ers -1.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:00 PM CT on Prime Video
It’s scary to say, but I’m starting to believe in the Sixers. Their incredible comeback on Tuesday might have come against the lowly Wizards, but they’ve already beaten this Celtics team in the opener without Joel Embiid in the lineup. That’s the key thing about Philadelphia, they have plenty of room to grow as they reintegrate Embiid, and look to welcome Paul George and Jared McCain back next week. So the market is underrating them, while probably overrating Boston who has struggled on the road against anyone decent. This is too short a price for how both teams have played so far, especially with Philly on the upswing, so I’ll back the 76ers for a win tonight.
NBA (0.5 Unit) Nikola Jokic Over 12.5 Rebounds (+100; Odds via DraftKings): 9:00 PM CT on Altitude
I think the PRA line on Jokic is a bit of a trap, but I’m still interested in backing the league’s best stat stuffer in some way here. Jokic has only cleared the PRA line for tonight’s game once on the season, against the Wolves no less, which is due to his scoring being down to start the year. But if teams aren’t going to let him beat them with points, he’ll beat them some other way and rebounding has been a very consistent angle so far. He’s gone over this number in 3 of 4 games so far, and tonight faces a Blazers squad that is 21st in the league in rebounding. With this being an NBA Cup game, stars should log more minutes so I think the opportunity is definitely there to clear this number.
MLB (0.25 Unit) Yoshinobu Yamamoto Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (+132; Odds via DraftKings): 7:00 PM CT on FOX
The price here is the main factor, as the +132 juice is too attractive to ignore. It’s scary because the Blue Jays are in this position thanks to their bats, but the one Dodger pitcher they haven’t been able to solve in this series is Yamamoto. He went 9 full innings against them on Saturday, only allowing 4 total hits and actually going over his strikeout prop which is rare against Toronto. The other worrisome angle is that LA will leave Yamamoto out there as long as possible to avoid a bullpen meltdown, but I think he’s raring to go and will shut the Jays down again.
