Luka Garza’s Dad Catches Attention With Heartwarming Social Media Post

The Boston Celtics have rebounded from a 0-3 start to the 2025-26 campaign by picking up a pair of big wins over the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers. Several guys have stepped up over these past two games, with one such player being center Luka Garza.
With the C’s revamping their frontcourt rotation over the offseason, the front office scooped up Garza on a cheap two-year, $5.5 million contract in free agency. The hope was that, with more minutes coming his way, Garza could take some steps forward with Boston.
Garza has only played in four games with his new team, but the early results are encouraging. In 13.8 minutes per game, Garza is averaging seven points, 3.5 rebounds and one assist per game, giving the Celtics some much-needed production from the center position.
If he keeps on delivering the goods, Garza will continue to earn more minutes for the C’s. That proposition likely is exciting for him, but he isn’t alone in feeling that way. On Thursday, Garza’s father, Frank, shared a heartwarming post on social media that detailed just how excited he is to see his son playing for Boston.
I can’t put into words what it means to see my son wear the green and white of the Boston Celtics.
Since a boy, Luka’s been a Fan. For us, it’s not just about 🏀, it’s about legacy & being part of something bigger than yourself.

Luka has a deep family history when it comes to playing basketball, but he largely learned how to play the game from Frank, who played college basketball for the Idaho Vandals. The pair still works together in an effort to help Luka improve his skills, and his hard work is paying off with Boston.

Several other guys, such as Neemias Queta, Chris Boucher and Xavier Tillman Sr., are fighting for minutes alongside Garza in the frontcourt, but if he can keep on playing like he did in his 16-point, six-rebound outing against the Pelicans, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star will only continue to earn more minutes.
Boston has a bit of momentum heading into its upcoming matchup, which is a rematch of its season-opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, with this game being the team’s first 2025 NBA Cup contest.
