Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement Playing World Series with Glove He Bought on eBay

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement confirmed that he’s been playing with a glove he bought on eBay during the team’s 2025 World Series matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“My other one broke, so I needed one quick that was already broken in,” Clement explained Friday on MLB Network Radio. “My other ones aren’t broken in the way I like.”
Clement previously revealed that he purchased the glove several months prior to the Fall Classic.
“Mine was getting worn, so this one looked good on eBay, so bought it,” he said after Toronto’s ALCS victory over the Seattle Mariners, per ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian. “I have to wear a glove underneath my glove because this glove is so old, it has no padding in it.”
The glove has served Clement well throughout the year, as he was named a Gold Glove finalist at third base on Oct. 15.
After hitting .277 with nine home runs and 50 RBI in 157 regular-season appearances, the 29-year-old has stepped up during Toronto’s postseason run.
Clement is slashing .391/.397/.531 across 16 playoff contests and is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak. He came through with a sacrifice fly during the Blue Jays’ 6-1 win over the Dodgers in Game 5 on Wednesday, helping them take a 3-2 series lead.
Toronto will look to close out the World Series in Game 6 on Friday night.
