Level 2 Preview: Six games feature local vs. local matchups

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Northeast Wisconsin started the football playoffs with 45 teams competing and after one week the number is now 24.

There is at least one team left in every division and there are five No 1 seeds still remaining.

Here is a look at some notable facts and the matchups for Level 2:

NOTABLE

  • All three Division 1 teams left (Bay Port, Kimberly and De Pere ) are on the road.
  • Luxemburg-Casco is the only Division 3 team still playing.
  • There are six local-local matchups, including three rematches (Pulaski at West De Pere, Bonduel at Kewaunee and Wrightstown at Freedom).
  • Divisions 6 and 7 each have five local teams still playing.
  • Five undefeated teams remain (West De Pere, Notre Dame, Winneconne, Manitowoc Lutheran and Lourdes Academy).
  • Fourteen local teams are on the road in Level 2.

LEVEL 2 MATCHUPS

DIVISION 1

  • #3 Bay Port (8-2) at #2 Milwaukee Reagan (9-1): Pirates are on the road but expect an easy victory.
  • #3 Kimberly (8-2) at #2 Hamilton (9-1): Hamilton beat Kimberly 42-21 in the season opener but has played with a backup QB since Week 4.
  • #7 De Pere (6-4) at #3 Hudson (8-2): Redbirds look for another road upset after beating Neenah last week.

DIVISION 2

  • #5 Pulaski (7-3) at #1 West De Pere (10-0): Phantoms handled Pulaski 52-9 during the regular season.
  • #4 Slinger (8-2) at #1 Notre Dame (10-0): Tritons scored 77 points last week and Kingston Allen totaled 477 rushing yards and eight TDs.
  • #3 Oshkosh North (9-1) at #2 New Richmond (8-2): North recorded its first playoff win since 2013 last week.

DIVISION 3

  • #3 Luxemburg-Casco (7-3) at #2 Plymouth (10-0): Spartans won with five seconds left to play last week and now face a perfect team on the road.

DIVISION 4

  • #4 Altoona (8-2) at #1 Winneconne (10-0): Wolves scored 42 first-quarter points last week en route to a 71-0 win.
  • #6 Wrightstown (7-3) at #2 Freedom (9-1): The Irish beat Wrightstown 16-6 on Oct. 3 in a game called in the fourth quarter due to inclement weather.
  • #6 West Salem (8-2) at #2 Little Chute (9-1): Mustangs continue their winning streak, winning nine in a row.

DIVISION 5

  • #4 Winnebago Lutheran Academy (7-3) at #1 Mayville (10-0): WL A fell to Mayville 14-7 during the regular season.
  • #3 Brillion (8-2) at #2 Amherst (9-1): Lions will look to use their dominant run game to pull off an upset.

DIVISION 6

  • #5 Weyauwega-Fremont (6-4) at #1 Manitowoc Lutheran (10-0): Lancers have rarely been tested this season, so can the Warhawks make them nervous?
  • #3 Bonduel (8-2) at #2 Kewaunee (9-1): Kewaunee hosted the Bears during the regular season and won 14-7.
  • #3 St. Mary’s Springs (7-3) at #2 Cedar Grove-Belgium (): After a 3-3 start the Ledgers have won four straight games.

DIVISION 7

  • #3 Coleman (8-2) at #2 Roncalli (8-2): Both teams cruised in Level 1, but this matchup should be much more competitive.
  • #3 Wauzeka-Stuben/Seneca (8-2) at #2 Hilbert (8-2): The Wolves have scored 39 offensive TDs, 34 via the ground, so they will turn to the run.
  • #5 Eleva-Strum (7-3): at #1 Lourdes Academy (10-0): The Knights have shut out their last three opponents.
  • #5 Crivitz (7-3) at #1 Kenosha St. Joseph (10-0): Wolverines ran for 262 yards and scored six rushing TDs in road win at Reedsville last week.
