Six-foot life size Thriller Michael Jackson tribute at Birmingham Cake Show | ITV News

A six-foot Thriller Michael Jackson edible cake tribute has been unveiled today in Birmingham, recreating one of his iconic Halloween looks.

The life-sized treat was on display at the Cake International show at the NEC in Birmingham, where dozens of the world’s biggest and best cakes were presented for judging.

The iconic model, weighing nearly 50 kilograms, is a recreation of the King of Pop’s 1983 hit “Thriller,” made from sugar paste, chocolate, Rice Krispies, and marshmallow filling.

The display also features tombstones made out of sugar paste as a backdrop.

Mother-of-three Emma Jayne from South Wales spent six weeks crafting the Michael Jackson tribute – from his curls to his shoes – previously creating life-size cake figures, including the King in 2023 and the Queen last year.

It took her three hours to drive the cake from Aberdare to Birmingham for the show, transporting its head separately from the body, and she was thrilled it arrived at the show in one piece.

She said: “I made his head separately to the body, so the head we took off to travel with and it went on a board so it was quite safe.

“The body, we had to hire a big van with a tail lift, and it traveled on its back lying down because even though it’s got an armature – a framework in it – it wouldn’t take the rocking to get here.

“It got here really, really well. I just had a little bit of damage on the back of the lapel, but other than that he got here perfectly.”

The show features several other iconic celebrity-inspired cake creations, including Elvis Presley and Jim Carrey.

The furthest cake competitor traveled from as far as Australia, and the cake even had its own seat on the plane.

A Guinness World record-breaking cake stand, valued at £15,000, was put on display at the show.
