Leicester will be hoping to get their Championship promotion push back on track when they host a Blackburn side who are just one place above the relegation zone at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Sitting in tenth position and eight points adrift of the automatic promotion places, the Foxes have struggled for consistency this season, but it has been a greater struggle for the visitors and this could turn out to be a miserable trip to the East Midlands for them.

Leicester vs Blackburn preview

Leicester haven’t made the start to the Championship season they would have hoped for following relegation from the Premier League but they are within striking distance of the playoff positions and there is still a lot of football to be played.

The Foxes have struggled in attack in the post-Jamie Vardy era and head coach Marti Cifuentes needs to bring out the attacking threat in a squad which boasts Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu – players who should be thriving at this level.

Finding the right balance on the road has been a problem for the East Midlands outfit but they have been stronger at the King Power Stadium, where they are unbeaten with two wins and three draws and are one of just two teams – Hull being the other – to have stopped free-scoring Coventry from finding the net.

Visiting Blackburn boss Valerien Ismael finds himself under huge pressure after guiding his side to just three wins from 11 matches, results which have left the club languishing in 21st position and just a point above the drop zone.

Attack has also been an area of concern for Rovers, with only Sheffield United (nine) scoring fewer than Blackburn’s ten goals, and the Lancashire side have failed to score in trips to West Brom, Charlton and Coventry this season.

With Leicester one of the toughest teams to break down at home and Blackburn struggling to hit the mark on their travels, the Foxes look capable of claiming the spoils and snapping their two-game losing streak.

Thomas in line for a booking

Leicester defender Luke Thomas has made at least one foul in 11 of his 13 matches this season and it is no surprise that he has picked up three yellow cards, all of which have come in his last five appearances.

Blackburn have some tricky, nimble forwards in Andri Gudjohnsen and Yuki Ohashi, and Thomas may struggle to keep himself out of the book.

Foxes can record shutout win

Leicester have conceded only three goals at home in the Championship and given the fact they managed to hold free-scoring Coventry to a 0-0 draw in the East Midlands, the Foxes can keep a Blackburn side who have netted just 10 times in the league at bay.

Rovers have failed to get on the scoresheet in their last two away matches and Leicester, who have beaten Birmingham 2-0 at home this season, are fancied to overcome Blackburn by that scoreline.

Leicester to win

Leicester are unbeaten at home this season and they should have enough to overcome a Blackburn side who have lost their last two away matches.

One or both teams not to score

Blackburn have failed to score in their last two away games and they may struggle to score against the joint-best home defence in the Championship

Abdul Fatawu to have 3+ shots

Leicester forward Abdul Fatawu has had at least three shots in each of his last four games and in eight of his total 12 appearances this season.
