This Morning aired a special Halloween episode

This Morning fans were left fuming as the latest show glitched when it opened with a skit to mark Halloween.

The instalment of the ITV daytime show that aired on Friday (October 31) ditched the usual opening sequence as hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary celebrated Halloween by acting out a segment called Alison in Wonderland, based on Alice in Wonderland.

It featured a major change to the ITV show as the opening credits and music were changed to tie in with the theme. But as a dance routine then took place in the studio, a glitch saw the show temporarily cut out. Alison apologised to viewers, explaining that “gremlins” had got into the system.

The show started with Alison and Dermot acting out a scene where Dermot had vanished, apparently down the rabbit hole. The pair, dressed up as characters from the story, were then seen in the studio as dancers performed to some spooky music.

But the programme then cut out briefly, with a green screen showing for a few seconds.

Once the technical issue was ironed out, the performance commenced.

Alison told viewers: “We had this huge number planned at the start of the show but some Gremlins got in the way and stopped us from showing it.”

However, many viewers were unimpressed with the segment.

This Morning had a technical hitch

One posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Just why?… Isn’t this supposed to be a daytime show for adults, discussing the news, TV and topical issues? It’s cringeworthy… and such a waste of money, scrap the costumes and give the money to charity!”

“Tell me they are not going to talk about today’s news dressed like that,” said somebody else, as another fan pleaded: “Make it stop.”

“Please end our suffering,” remarked another viewer.

“Was the glitch part of the show????” asked someone else, as one commented: “Well that didn’t work did it?” “This is a bit of a car crash,” posted another baffled fan.

Another viewer wrote: “Haha. The intro for the Halloween special on This Morning broke down. Must have been a scary moment for them. The irony.”

However, others appeared keen on the light-hearted segment. “That was well worth seeing,” said one.

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays from 10am.
