Amy Luciani has opened up about her marriage with Dwight Howard, whom she almost divorced this year.
Addressing her union with the former NBA Hall of Famer, the Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star also gave advice to young, newly married women in a three-minute clip she shared to on social media.
“I met the love of my life and I almost divorced his ass in six months being real stupid and silly. Actually, we both filed for divorce,” Luciani said in the video.
“Let’s talk about the struggles of being a new, young wife. First thing I can tell you as a new wife … shut your mouth. Shut up,” she explained. “I’m saying, pick your battles. And sometimes, pick them quietly. Understand: when you became one with your husband, that means you became one.”
“Successful, top-tier men, they just want peace. They don’t want anything else,” Luciani said. “And I’m about to say something that’s probably gonna hurt y’all feelings. Black successful men do marry Black women. … I already know, sis, life was not easy for us and along the way, we formed a little neck roll that we can’t get rid of. Because life was hard doesn’t give you the right to be rude, a bitch, confrontational, nasty attitude, uncooperative — any of those things.
“You’re married now, sis, so you’re joining with one. It should be a peaceful harmony, right, which means you have to die to yourself with all the ugly things that do not create peace.”
In July, news surfaced that the pair had eparated just months after their wedding, and that Luciani filed for divorce.
However, in recent months, it appears the couple have rekindled their love. On Thursday (October 30), she posted clips of her and Howard working out together on her Instagram Story, with the last clip showing him kissing her.
An IG post from earlier this month included a set of photos and videos of Luciani and Howard attending an event together.
In July, when filing for divorce, Luciani cited that her marriage with Howard was “irretrievably broken.” She added that “there are no prospects for reconciliation” with him. Yet, in September, it seemed like the pair might have worked things out, with Luciani unexpectedly sharing photos of Howard amid their ongoing divorce.
