As someone who constantly searches for broadband deals for myself and customers, I’ve noticed that the broadband price competition has intensified over the last few months. The likes of Sky, Vodafone, and others have been offering deals, such as buyout contracts, £1-a-month deals, and free gift cards – and it seems that Virgin Media has joined the fight.

Virgin Media has unveiled a rare deal on its broadband bundles, slashing prices to their ‘lowest ever’ for a limited period. The broadband and TV provider has reduced the cost of its M500 broadband package to £27.99 – a very competitive and low price.

It has also cut the price of its Gig1 package to £29.99 a month – another big price cut for super-fast speeds that’s perfect for gamers and those who stream 4K videos. This is one of the most affordable prices it has offered in some time, competing with Sky and other broadband providers.

For comparison, Sky offers its 500Mbps package for £31 per month and its 900Mbps package for £40 per month, making Virgin’s offer significantly more affordable. It also undercuts EE, Vodafone and Plusnet, meaning that for households able to access Virgin Media, this deal is well worth considering if you’re after fast and reliable broadband speeds. But there’s more.

Virgin Media has cut the price of its speedy broadband packages for those that need fast speeds for downloading and streaming.

Virgin Media is also including Netflix for free, and its Wi-Fi Guarantee – part of the Gig1 package – ensures strong and fast broadband in every room or your money back. The inclusion of Netflix has long been a popular perk to rival Sky, and it’s now available to Virgin customers.

However, be aware that these packages are part of a 24-month broadband contract, and prices will increase annually by £4, reports the Express. For those who only require broadband, Hyperoptic could be a great alternative.

Customers can secure broadband for as little as £26 per month on a 24-month contract. It even allows customers to customise the length of the contract based on their circumstances.

As previously noted, Sky is currently offering some of its most competitive prices on slower broadband packages – ideal for homes that don’t require ultra-fast connections, with tariffs beginning at £25 monthly.

USwitch examined Virgin Media’s broadband services and provided a favourable assessment. It noted: “Virgin Media is a very good option for any household that uses the internet a lot.

“However, if you live in a smaller household and you only really use the internet to scroll on social media or stream the odd show, Virgin’s offerings are maybe more than you need. You could pay a lot less for a much simpler package that delivers everything you need from your broadband deal.

“Plus, a broadband connection on the Openreach network might be a bit more reliable and consistent than Virgin Media’s network. So you might have a smoother experience with providers that use Openreach, such as BT, Sky, Plusnet, TalkTalk or NOW Broadband.”
