Detroit Lions injury report vs Minnesota Vikings: Live updates on Taylor Decker injury

Injured Lions’ Kerby Joseph wears Mario costume ahead of Vikings game at Ford Field
Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph wore a Mario costume on the sidelines ahead of the game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 at Ford Field in Detroit. Joseph was ruled out because on an ongoing knee injury.
The Detroit Lions had an extra week to rest up after their bye week, but it did not help slow down the injuries against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 2, at Ford Field in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season.
In the second half, Lions injuries piled up, as they lost 27-24 despite being 9½-point favorites at kickoff.
Both offensive tackles, Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell got hurt and returned to the game, but guard Christian Mahogany was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after a leg whip. He was using crutches postgame in the locker room.
The other guard, rookie Tate Ratledge, also left the game with a shoulder injury, then came back in.
Sewell, an All-Pro, was shown on the Fox broadcast working with trainers as his eye was extremely red and appeared to be bothering him before getting what looked like another injury.
Decker, nursing a shoulder injury all season, was listed as questionable on the team’s Friday injury report but was able to play, until he got rolled up on in the third quarter and had to be evaluated in the locker room. He was listed as questionable to return but did return.

Lions injury live updates vs Vikings
Here’s every injury for the Lions in the game today against Minnesota:
- G Christian Mahogany (leg), carted off.
- G Tate Ratledge (shoulder), returned to game.
- LT Taylor Decker (leg), returned.
- RT Penei Sewell (eye), returned.
- CB Terrion Arnold (back), returned.
- LB Ty Summers (thumb).
Mahogany was using crutches postgame in the locker room, and coach Dan Campbell said Mahogany would be out a while, but the knee injury should not be season-ending.
“You’re talking about late December probably,” Campbell said of Mahogany’s potential return.
Mahogany, a second-year guard, injured his leg when it whipped into a defender in similar fashion to what happened to Aidan Hutchinson last year. Mahogany was carted to the locker room, though it wasn’t immediately clear if his leg broke like it was with Hutchinson.
Mahogany (knee) was quickly ruled out for the game.
The only good news? Tate Ratledge returned from the locker room to finish the drive after Mahogany’s injury.
Per Fox’s Erin Andrews, Lions offensive guard Tate Ratledge is currently in the locker room with an injury. The Lions have listed him as questionable.
Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been listed as questionable with a back injury. Arnold missed the previous game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an injury but returned to practice this week before making the start against Minnesota.
Lions left tackle Taylor Decker limped off the field midway through the third quarter and was replaced by tackle Dan Skipper.
Decker has been dealing with a shoulder injury all season as was listed as questionable on the team’s Friday injury report.
He has been listed as questionable with a knee injury.
Vikings All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson was slow to get up from a second-down pass play deep in Lions territory in the middle of the third quarter. He walked off the field alongside trainers, and we any news of a potential injury.
Lions right tackle Penei Sewell didn’t take a series off after heading to the locker room for a medical inspection. He is back in the game at his usual position.
Vikings running back Aaron Jones left the game with a shoulder injury and has been listed as questionable. Jones has 89 total yards so far this game, leading all Vikings skill players.
The Lions went three-and-out on their first possesion of the second half, punting the ball back to the Vikings.
Perhaps more importantly for the Lions on the drive, right tackle Penei Sewell was seen in pain heading to the locker room. It is not yet clear what injury he may have suffered.
Tackle Dan Skipper was seen on the sideline taking phantom snaps as a right tackle, potentially coming in for Sewell on the next series.
The Lions have listed linebacker Ty Summers as questionable to return with a thumb injury.
It’s going to take a lot more than an eye issue to keep Penei Sewell off the field.
The Lions’ All-Pro right tackle was shown on the Fox broadcast working with trainers to try and deal with an irritating eye issue. It wasn’t clear if Sewell got poked in the eye or if he got some turf in there, but either way, it didn’t look fun.
No one has ever questioned Taylor Decker’s toughness.
The left tackle has been battling through a shoulder injury all season long and has even missed some time, but he’s giving it a go again this week against the Vikings.
